Tamil Nadu Records India's Fastest Merchandise Export Growth, Reaches $59.3 Billion in FY 2025–26
Chennai: Tamil Nadu has emerged as India's top-performing state in merchandise export growth during the financial year 2025–26, recording exports worth $59.3 billion. The achievement marks the highest export growth rate among all Indian states, highlighting Tamil Nadu's expanding industrial base and growing global trade presence.
The state's impressive export performance was powered by strong contributions from key sectors such as electronics, engineering goods, automobiles, textiles, leather products, and ready-made garments. Well-developed manufacturing infrastructure, modern ports, efficient logistics, and investor-friendly policies have helped position Tamil Nadu as a preferred export destination.
Industry experts attribute the state's success to its diversified industrial ecosystem, which has enabled it to maintain steady export growth despite global economic uncertainties. Increased investments in electronics manufacturing, renewable energy components, automotive production, and engineering products have further strengthened Tamil Nadu's export capabilities.
Government officials stated that ongoing investments in industrial corridors, logistics infrastructure, and export promotion initiatives are expected to further accelerate export growth in the coming years. The state continues to attract both domestic and international investors through various policy reforms and ease-of-doing-business initiatives.
With merchandise exports reaching $59.3 billion, Tamil Nadu has reinforced its position as one of India's leading export hubs. The milestone is expected to contribute significantly to employment generation, industrial expansion, foreign exchange earnings, and the country's overall economic growth.
